GENERAL DIRECTIONS ON MAKING A SOLVENT CEMENT JOINT

  1. Examine cement before using.  If jellied, discard.  Do not use primer/cleaner to thin out cement.

  2. Square cut pipe and remove all dirt and burrs.

  3. Check dry fit of pipe and fitting.  Pipe should easily go into fitting 1/4 of the way.

  4. Clean and prime pipe with Black Swan's ALL PURPOSE PRIMER/CLEANER.  (Note:  Do not use primer/cleaner when working with ABS systems.)

  5. Apply thin coat of cement to fitting;  avoid puddling inside.

  6. Apply liberal coat of cement to pipe;  leave no void areas.  Enough cement must be used to completely fill any gaps in joint.

  7. Assemble quickly while cement is still wet.

  8. Push pipe into fitting using a 1/4 turning motion until pipe bottoms out.

  9. Hold pipe and fitting together for 30 seconds; wipe off excess on collar.

  10. Allow 15 minutes for good handling strength.

  11. Allow joint 24 to 48 hours before applying pressure.

  12. Stir frequently while using.

  13. For 1/4 pint and 1/2 pint cans do not use applicator in can if pipe diameter exceed 1-1/4".  For pint and quart cans do not use applicator if pipe diameter exceeds 3".  Proper size of applicator should be 1/2 diameter of pipe.

  14. Pressure test often so as to eliminate possible large failures.

  15. Keep container tightly closed when not in use.
