ROOF-PROOF

DESCRIPTION

A  roof  and  flashing  cement  formulated  to  work  on  wet  and  dry  surfaces  under  all  weather  conditions.   Recommended  for  the  repair  of  holes,  tears  and  rips  in  roofing.   It  is  ideal  for  sealing  flashings,  vents,  laps,  etc.   Adheres  to  concrete,  metal,  wood,  tile,  built-up  roofing,  asphalt  shingles  and  masonry.   ROOF-PROOF  is  a  combination  of  pure  asphalt  and  selected  fibers.   Meets  Federal  Specification  SSC-153.

DIRECTIONS  FOR  USE 

Holes  and  cracks  and  the  surface  around  them,  and  any  other  areas  over  which  material  is  to  be  applied,  should  be  clean...Clean  out  cracks  with  an  old  whisk  broom...Rust  and  scale  on  metal  should  be  wire-brushed  clean… Concrete  should  be  wire-brushed  to  remove  all  loose  particles.  Use  material  as  it  comes…Apply  with  a  trowel  at  a  thickness  of  3/8  to  ½  inch…Always  taper  off  the  cement  to  a  feather-edge.   

Large  holes  -  Cut  a  piece  of  canvas,  roofing,  metal  or  felt  larger  than  the  hole…Apply  ROOF-PROOF  in  and  around  hole…Place  the  patch  down  and  trowel  cement  over  it.   

Small  holes  and  cracks  -  No  patch  is  needed…merely  trowel  material  in  and  around  opening  and  smooth  to  a  feather-edge.  

Laps,  seams  and  loose  nails  -  drive  in  loose  nails  and  apply  material  over  and  around  nail  heads  and  seams.   

Flashings  -  Material  should  always  be  used  under  and  over  metal  flashings…be  sure  metal  is  nailed  tight  wherever  it  contacts  wood.  

Gutters-    Apply  a  thin  layer  of  this  cement  with  a  stiff  brush  inside  gutter,  work  material  well  into  gutter  junctions.   

Slate  and  tile  roofs  -  one  application  seals  joints  and  cracks.   

Parapets  and  copings  -  to  insure  a  waterproof  seal,  apply  a  ½-inch  coating  over-all,  being  sure  to  work  cement  well  into  cracks.   

Concrete  -  work  ROOF-PROOF  well  into  cracks  and  smooth  off.   

Cold  weather  application  -  If  this  cement  becomes  too  heavy  to  work,  submerge  this  container  in  a  bucket  of  hot  water  to  restore  its  workable  plasticity…DO  NOT  HEAT  OVER  AN  OPEN  FLAME.   

Locating  leaks  -  It  is  not  always  easy  to  locate  the  source  of  a  leak…the  trouble  spot  often  is  not  directly  over  the  point  at  which  it  shows  on  the  underside  of  the  roof…carefully  inspect  the  roofing  seams  and  flashings  and  repair  such  spots  which  seem  most  likely  the  cause…if  first  efforts  fail,  repair  other  likely  spots.

CAUTION

Keep  out  of  reach  of  children.   Harmful  or  fatal  if  swallowed.   Do  not  induce  vomiting.   If  swallowed  call  a  physician  immediately.   See  physician  if  product  comes  in  contact  with  eyes…Avoid  prolonged  contact  with  skin,  and  breathing  of  vapor  or  spray  mist…Close  container  after  each  use.   Use  with  adequate  ventilation…Keep  away  from  heat  or  open  flame…Wash  hands  thoroughly  after  handling  and  before  eating  or  smoking.
